I want to buy my boyfriend a new headset for his ps4 for Valentine's Day... The issue is that he wants to be able to mute the people in his party at times because they are so loud he cannot hear the actual game. Is there a headset out there that can do this that doesn't cost over $100? I can buy one that is that much, I just know he doesn't want me to spend that much on one if there is a cheaper one that works just as good. And don't worry I have Amazon prime so I can get it in time lol. Any help is appreciated!

I dont think there is a headset with that option, but he can adjust the sound of the party by going in the quick menu (hold ps button) --> Adjust sound and devices -->Adjust audio mix (party settings)

For the headset, i heard the sony gold headset is great for it's cheap price.

PlayStation golds has option to adjust betwen game audio and party chat with a button on it

He can also mute people ingame
No need a special headset for it

Maybe he intentionally doesnt use the in game mute functions because he doesn't like hearing you talk. Ever thought of that?

It has a mute button though I never used it
I'm not sure but I think that just mutes myself so others can't hear me
But you can adjust the sound of the players and adjust the sound of the game, making the players speak quieter and making the game louder..you can also adjust the bass, and toggle between different noise modes..like sports, cinema, game, etc.
But It might be over your 100$ budget

Actually I like watching him play COD. His friends are all jealous because I don't nag at him while he's playing. For the most part. If he's been on for hours straight and I want some attention I just tell him like an adult and he like an adult logs off for a bit so we can watch a movie or whatever. Then he goes back to playing. Thanks for the advice though.

His friends for some reason create party chats outside of COD so he can't mute them like in the actual game. I dunno I just know he's complained that his headset can't just turn off all chat options.
