Most summons just damage.

ChocoMog has stun chance
Odins sword is an autodeath attack, but has chance to miss
Pheonix does fire damage and also revives downed allies
Hades does multiple status effects + damage
KoTR does damage over 100K

All the others just do damage/elemental but are locked at 10k

Not sure what you mean by growth in your post. Some weapons and armors have 2x or 3x growth for materia if that's what you mean. The materia you put into those weapons/armor with double or triple growth will level up your materia that much faster, multiplying the AP you receive from battles.

Weapons or Armor with no Growth will not allow your materia to be leveled up at all (I believe all of the top tier weapons are no-growth)

I've beaten this game like 5x and am unfamiliar with what you mean by "growth: object"

Mind posting a pic?

My head hurts... How cannot people know these and still play the game effectively.

Weapon growth refers to the amount of AP that the materia assigned to a weapon will receive. When you kill something, you receive exp. and AP. Exp. advances the character's levels for stat bonuses and such. AP "grows" materia. It's kind of like exp. for materia. As you gain AP on materia, it becomes stronger.

If you kill an enemy that gives 20 AP, each materia assigned to a weapon or armor with "normal" growth will receive 20 AP. Some weapons and one or two armors have "double" growth, so any materia assigned to them would gain 40 AP. There are some weapons and armor that have no growth, which means the materia assigned to those pieces won't receive any AP. Lastly, there are (I think) three "triple" growth weapons, which would net 60 AP from the same battle.

Another hints. When you materia reaches max level it'll create a copy of itself. So you can have multiple summon materias etc. Multiply mega-alls at least. Also poenix+last attack is ok. Or revive + last attack. Or quad slash + kotr (or whatever the materia combo is that lets you hit kotr uip to 8 times or so in a row). Play with materia combos.

It'll feel dated if you've never played it. But yes it is a good game. Some people have trouble enjoying jrpgs like this though because of the systems employed. I think the systems in 7/9 are some of the best they've done.

Most of the new stuff they've tried has been garbage.
