I'll simply list the games I've played is ascending order of most time played/enjoyed as well as a brief summary of each
Mortal kombat x - pretty much exactly what'd you expect out of the staple, a brief campaign, blood, gore, some more blood. In my opinion it is an incredibly fluid fighting game and the revamp of fatalities the brought to the table with this one are pretty damn cool.
Now If you are a fan of the series I would let you know that you may be disappointed in the character selection as not all previous characters were brought over. But let's face the facts we all played it for my boys sub and scorp anyways.
Stars battle front - now the only reason this game ranks so low on the list is because I've only played the beta at this point, but I will say this atleast. It is by far the most visibly beautiful game I have played yet. Not sure how i feel about online only and no campaign but I guess time will tell.
The Elder scrolls online - well, it was fun for the first play through, but I sincerely hope this is not the direction the franchise moves forward with. What i was expecting was skyrim online. What i got was just another cookie cutter repetitive mmo. Now i am a bit biast as i prefer my rpgs to be single player, but the idea of going to a town, killing 5 animals for one guy and collection their skins, killing some enemies and then minor boss fight then doing the same thing town after town is god damn boring. What i liked about the game was that combat was kind of cool, while there didn't appear to be any game breaking combos, there were ways to combine class skills for deadly attacks that could quickly dispatch an enemy squad. Another on the positive note is that the game truly let's you make whatever the hell you want. Dual welding battle mage? Yup. Healing tank? Hell yeah. Stealth two handed? Sure why the hell not the majority of this review was pretty negative , but all in all not a bad game. If you like the franchise lore, or mmos in general give it a try.
Gta online- by now I can't even be bothered to pick it up anymore. The thing about this game is, if you don't have a crew to play with, you're going to have a shit time. That being said rockstar really did do a good job on this game, sure the 12 year Olds kill it, but there are ways around that if you don't like slaughtering them and listening to them tell you about how they boned your mom. There are lot of things to do in this game and rockstar is only bringing more and more features into the fold. You won't ever run out of anything to do, the only problem is getting the money to do it. My problem was that i made all this money when it first came out, spent it on sports cars and high end apartments so when all this new Content came out i just couldn't afford the ridiculous prices for it all. But hey rockstar I guess that's how you keep us playing.
Destiny - a 500 million dollar budget sure makes for one hell of a game. Similar to gta, I would recommend playing with friends. The game is all about simply gear grinding, doing all the special events, raids, strikes etc. But it does a good job of keeping a guy entertained with fast paced dynamic combat that forces the player to either duck and cover or go hammer time and simply overwhelm the opposition with incredibly powerful supers. I don't really have much bad to say about this game other than the repetitive grinding which they unexplainably hide quite well.
Fallout 4 - the crown jewel of my collection. Vast, open, classic fallout game play with a few new features. The game gives you multiple different paths to walk(metaphorically ) as you see fit. You want to be the savior of the commonwealth? Cool man all the power to you. You want to be a criminal running around shooting everything you see? Well I mean sure I guess. You want to be a pacifist nudist? Well maybe the commonwealth isn't the best place for you, but hey, follow your dreams kid. I am still mid play through on this game but I will say that some of the new concepts feel like they take away from a deeper, more meaningfull game play experience. But that's just personal opinion so get out there and explore the wastes yourself!
