Am I missing something here? Why do I need 2 apps now...like the first one sent messages fine. But now I need to download another playstation app in order to send messages...

maybe they added ps3<->ps4 communication?
before u could only see ps4 ppl on ps4 and ps3 on ps3

Yeah, you need another app now
And it's bullshit because you get 2 notifications now with it when you receieve a message
1 from the original app
And another from the messenger app
