Never played b4 just got the legenday edition so im 25, whats the best way to get decent gear and lvl up??

If you are into PvP, the crucible is a really fast way to level up.

Always do your daily bounties, and i suggest also doing the gunsmith test weapons. When you rank up you will receive legendary/exotics weapons.

also with enough glimmer go with a faction as well when you level them up yu get legendary packages

Don't worry about leveling up fast. Learn the game and do the quests.
When you're done with the taken king quest line, go do normal strikes until you're 290+, but after next week you can get 320 light gear from nightfall, not sure if you can get 'em from strikes.

Do the story. By the time you finish you should be max level if not close to it. Start with the taken king story lines. Once you're max level, do strikes over and over to grind cryptarch rep.
