I switch between a acer h236hlbid and a Dell u2312hm which apparently weigh less than 8 pounds each.

Could I set either of these on top of my system or does that just scream bad idea?

Why would u put it on top of your ps4?
I would say it's no problem though

You could probably stand on top of it if you really wanted to, doesn't seem like a good idea though.

the weight would prob be fine but putting something on top of the ps4 taking up a good amount of space and it would prob make it get hotter then it normally does

could easily make small stand that would allow you to put your ps4 under it and your monitor on top.

I put my comcast box on my ps4 and it shut itself off in about 2 hours haha. The Comcast box does make a fair amount of heat itself tho.

don't rest anything on top of your console imo, unless it's a game case or two tops

i mean, it prolly wouldn't do any bad (propping an 8 pound monitor on top of your ps4), but it just seems unnecessary.
