Hello everyone, as topic says Best Gaming Headset?
I currently have the Turtle Beach PX21 but when I play the likes of Call of Duty it's not as effective with hearing the enemy as it used to be back on some of the old CODs.

I have been looking and I like the Tritton Pro+ 5.1 Surround OR the Astro a40s Audio System

I know there are newer versions of both of these but these are more in the price range I want to depend of about £120-£200! Whereas say the Astro a50 are Mega Money!!

I have checked some YouTube videos on both of these but just wondering if someone on here has either of these and your thoughts??

astros are nice. the mixamp is why people buy them though - the headset itself is good, but not amazing.

So the mixamps are good just what so u mean by the headset itself isn't good? What hearing other people or the game and footsteps Etc?

Get the mixamp by itself and use whatever headphones you want with it

What does the mixamp actually do?

Essentially it takes the load off the soundcard in your system.

Think of it like a stereo amplifier. You don't plug your headphones or speakers directly into the radio you run them through the amplifier and out to the speakers and get cleaner quality sound. Same thing essentially can be said for the mixamp. It also has a 3.5 and quarter inch Jack so you can use whatever headphones you want. Heard about a lot of people using ath-m50s or various sennheiser models to get great sound staging out of fps games and such

Edit: tl/dr better quality sound and you aren't limited to gaming headsets which are lower quality compared to similarly priced headphones

Is there a difference between the Astro a40 Audio Systems and the Astro a40 Mixamps or are they both the same headset? Or is one a newer version?

Think it's the same thing actually just named different things by different retailers

Playstatiom gold is 7.1 and 100$
