I know the xbox one requires you to own the adapter that plugs into the controller in order to be able to use stereo headphones and whatnot

i want a headset to substitute for the sound that comes outa my tv, like, i don't want to hear anything come outa my tv.

can i simply plug a headset into a ps4 controller to get the same effect? or is there an adapter or something?

I never tried plugging my headset into the controller, im sure it would net you the same results. as soon as i turn my headset on, all sound is directed to my headset. And when I turn it off, its back to the tv. So whether you use a plug or USB I don't think that makes a difference

You don't need an adapter to hear game sounds through the headset.

Older headsets need an adapter for game chat and what not.

you can plug straight up headphones in the controller too ive tried it and it worked just like the earbud but you have no mic but both ears get sound
and theres a setting to change all the sound to go to the headset/controller by holding ps button going to adjust devices iirc

You can plug any headset to your controller.

soo i can just buy like a 40 dollar headset, plug it into my controller, and get full sound that would otherwise be coming out of my tv?
no need to buy a 30 dollar adapter like the xbox controller requires? (im assuming the ps4 controller has some kind of adapter built right in right?)
