Posted this in xbox forums as well...jw for opinions on why the ps4 is demolishing the Xbox one

1. Ps4 was 100$ cheaper than xbox one.

2. Xbox one is NOT better than ps4, it terms of speed, processor, etc... That doesnt mean ps4 is better, but xbox doesnt have any advantage.

3. Ps4 doesnt require a subscription for internet, netflix, hulu, etc... While xbox one require a gold subscription for all these features.

4. The games. More people prefer the playstations esclusives, over the xbox exclusives.

Numbers haven't be released in a while. I wouldn't say it's demolishing it. I wouldn't be surprised at all if the numbers were closer now. I forget who said it but the sum of the quote was that Xbox One may not have won the sprint, but the race isn't over (or something to that effect).
I would attribute the early success to the messaging and initial price.

yeah but microsoft giving away free titanfall and then taking out the shit to drop the price to even compete in sales is pretty solid to say the least
+ ps4 sales prob woulda been way higher if they actually stocked canada with shipments and then didnt up the price $50

Playstation has more of an arsenal of gaming options
PS3. PS vita. PS4. PS TV. PS Now. ?Project Morpheus?
And from what I've seen PS Plus offers more and better games than Xbox gold.

Better initial marketing. When you have a higher instal base from the get go people who are more inclined to wait will be more inclined to get what their friends already have so they can play with them. At least in the short term I expect sony to maintain their lead on this alone. It'll be interesting to see what happens this holiday season though with deals and how each company attempts to draw more adopters in
