When i play a game from a disk does it read it from the hard drive or the disk?
my ghosts says it takes up about 45gb of my hard drive but if it reads from the disk why does it take up so much space?

Takes so much space because "hard drive" in playstation is bullshit. Just caching there due to too low memory. But 45gb?!

I thought it only needed disk to run and read entire game off hd... reads disk to verify that it's not in use for multiple systems.

if you play a game from the disc it will install portions of it but not all of it to reduce loading and improve the performance. if you download a game digitally you get the same performance but a bigger install. either way, you are going to need hd space.

if i get a SSD would it make the game faster? would it give en edge in call of duty? or any game?

Get a hybrid drive. The performance difference between a hybrid drive and SSD is 1-2 seconds at most and not worth the price difference.

It wouldn't give you an edge. It will only help to load the game/maps etc. faster.

Theoretically. But people say the ps4 isn't optimized for it so it makes no difference.
