so i tried running a game in background and inside the game, both will not turn the ps4 off in set time. i even turned off my controller so nothing is activating and it's still not working.
anyone know why?

Because playing a game isn't idleing, which counts a game open, sitting on the XMB (if that's what it's called) not doing anything is.

Doesn't make a difference if u are in game or not.

If my controller is not touched for 1h, the ps4 shuts down.

so my ps4 is defective? it will only shut down if no game is running in background or if i'm using applications like browser

It's probably Fine. You're most likely overreacting to nothing. Many different things will keep the system active. Alerts, notifications, literally everything. If something happens on the screen that timer is reset.

Turn off psn, put your controller down, walk out of the room for however long you want and come back. It should prove it works and you can feel better about a practically useless feature.

dude this is not something that happened yesterday
i didn't bother with it until it NEVER worked for me. i want to know if it's suppose to turn off even with games running or not
