After purchasing my plasma and getting it tuned/calibrated, I showed my friends and family that the quality of plasma is still up there and can even contend with the LEDs for movies(gaming is model specific and you'll have to research the input lag).

My nephew went and bought a plasma without researching. It was a 51 in Samsung 1080p and kinda old. 2 hdmi ports and no smart features. I literally called him an idiot but he did get it for only $450 brand new which isn't all that bad.

Of course it had a finished quality when the room was bright as most plasmas do. So feeling bad I went and got my friend to tune it to get it to look as good as it can so my nephew can get the best bang for his buck.

Ilet me say that his dad has a really nice Samsung led 240Hz in the living room. The quality of this kids plasma after tuning was not that far off besides the obvious lighting/brightness that the LEDs have.

So all in all
Don't believe the hype of the LEDs. Yes their quality is amazing but if you're not trying to break bank then give the plasmas a try. Of course I'm gonna get bashed for speaking of Wal-Mart but they have a ridiculous return policy. Buy a name brand plasma for cheap, get it tuned/calibrated or tune/calibrate it yourself and I promise the quality is not far off and you won't be breaking bank

If you don't like it then return it for full money back.

If you can afford a high end plasma then yes choose that over a high end led anyway and everyday

Basically a tuned/middle class plasma can almost contend with a high end LED
And for 1/4th the price
Also gaming is much more smoother and clearer on a plasma(if that remodel does not have input lag)
