I'm not tech smart when it comes to TV's
Wondering which would run better between a high end 1080p 120hz LED or a high end 1080p plasma
I know for sure image burning is no longer an issue and the heat build up on plasma is not an issue for me personally

Mainly using this TV for gaming ONLY

I've discussed this with 5 tech savvy people I know and 4/5 recommended the plasma
Supposeably the plasma runs much smoother and the dark colors/black/color contrast is MUCH better than an LED

When I say high end I mean both are around 1.5k-3k. The LED being cheaper than Plasma(of course the plasma's higher price to compensate for quality difference).
Both TV's being between 46-55 inch TV's
I'm mainly looking for performance/quality so price is not an issue

Just looking for more opinions on this matter
Thanks

Also if you have any specific models you know of that are nice please post them as well and I will look into it

Some still make plasma's
I've heard the opposite
What I've been told is that the trumotion and 120/240hz makes movies more crisp and nicer but creates input and frame lag for games(which is why they have game mode which brings it back down to 60hz)
The way plasma works, there is naturally no motion blur and the frames move/integrate smoother naturally so it's ideal for gaming
Of course I cant explain it the way it was explained to me but that was what I got out of it lol

Any specific reason why led is better for gaming and plasma better for movies
would like to hear different sides

Get a led bro. They look gorgeous.

Imo: 1080, 120hz, led TV and you choose what size is best for you

Have you seen the high end Plasmas?
They look gorgeous too
It might sound like I'm leaning towards the Plasma and that's only because 4/5 of the tech savvy people gave their explainations why thats the route to go

I'm mainly here looking for deeper explainations as to why LED > Plasma to make my final $3k decision
Keep in mind both are high ends

I was always told plasma was better for fast moving pictures (sports, games, etc). I have no idea how accurate that is. I just don't like how power hungry plasmas are, so I stick with LED/LCD. But lately I've been seeing some plasma TVs that look absolutely stunning so I might jump on the plasma train too. I would have to agree with your tech buddies on this one.

I believe the newer plasmas are less power hungry but of course use more than LED's
I'm just trying to find a deeper explaination as to why some suggest that LED is better than Plasma before I go and spend $3k

the only tv i pulled up with the description you gave me is a 24in
not really what I need

again I'm looking for some input as to why one is better than the other
some comparisons
pros/cons etc
saying one is the best without stating why or stating what it has over the other doesnt really give me anything

Everyone is pretty much out of the Plasma business. Panasonic is out and I think Samsung stopped making them for a while.
