I guess it depends on the game mode you do. In demolition 6 kills with specialist is nothing.

Yes, to unlock hero you first have to unlock every single outfit for every specialist. Once you complete that, then the hero outfit will be unlocked. And at that point, you will have to complete 6 games with 6 super kills for the helmet, and 4 games with 4 kills for the armor.
