The Wii U is getting decent third party support, mainly from Platinum games who are developing Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2. As for other titles that are not going to be on Wii U such as Battlefield 4 they hardly matter considering anyone who owns a Wii U won't buy them; just look at Call of Duty Black Ops 2 on Wii U right now.
They don't buy them because the counterpart is better. Not because they don't want it.

Because everyone goes out and buys a Nintendo system to play games made by developers other than Nintendo.
They don't because they can't. It is not as if the market is flooded with third party WiiU games and people are still going for the first party.

pretty sure the wii had god awful graphics and developers running left and right trying to make games for it
wii u will be very successful, your argument is invalid
Do you even understand what a game engine is?
It may have had god awful graphics, but game engines were still used to make the games.
