So, after playing this game for approx 2 hours I can safely say that I really want to like the game but I just cant. So many things that just annoys the dick off of me.
Maybe Im just old and old fashioned ( or stupid for not finding it ) but is it too much to ask for a map? Backtracking to where I got backstabbed and gangbanged for the 7th time is just impossible cuz in my eyes, everything looks identical.

The most annoying thing for me personally tho must be the sense of not knowing what the fuck im supposed to be doing. I literally spent 2 hours faffing about, got killed somewhere then I spent Another hour trying to find My way back.

You learn the map by exploring.
Thats how it's supposed to be..
I like it a lot. The map's layout is kida easy imo.
You never know whats going on in the next corner.

Once you can handle it, you will like it.

I think what will help me the most is not playing the game at 2am ^_^

Also, the Cleric Beast being on a bridge with 2 Werewolves. Are those werewolves 2x the first mob you encountered in the starting area? (The one I beat with my fists because I had no idea that you could get your weapons from talking to the helpful tips-ghosts on the ground in the Hunter's Rest).
If so, I think that's exactly where I called it quits, I got to the bridge, killed the 2 werewolves and then I died to something and went to bed.

Just going to restart the game when I get home tho, I had no idea how to read the stats on weapons and such so I picked the axe, which really doesn't suit my playstyle at all (Fast 1handers ftw).

Sadly, I am REALLY bad at remembering / memorizing the way I came from and stuff, but I guess I'll get better. I also need to learn not to just bring up the axe and cleave 2-3 mobs at the same time (does not always end so well, apparently).

yup that would be them. And yeah...take your time...learn the surroundings and remember what enemies are where. Once you kill them, go back to the dream and come back they respawn..after awhile you can pretty much run past most mobs

What you guys seem to not like about it is what makes it special. If this game had a map it would be terrible in my opinion and boil down to the feeling of fetch quests (go here and do this, go here and do that).

Game is not hard in my opinion. If you are having difficulty it is on your approach. Granted I am experienced with the souls series but I cake walked through the entire game.

That's the thing that irks me.
"This game is not hard, I beat souls 39 times, this is easy in comparison."

Well fuck yeah, obviously it's going to be easy FOR_YOU.

I can say the same thing about world of warcraft that I've been playing for 10 years.

You enter this tiers final raid boss, you will most likely die in the first 2 seconds of the fight because of a mechanic, whilst I will think it's fucking easy as shit because I've done it 2000 times before and wonder how you manage to tie your shoelaces if you can't dodge that attack.

I specificly said that I did not want a map that pointed you to where you should go, but a simple way of checking where you've already been would be beneficial to me as a first-time player.

I am really sorry if I come across as a total douchefag, but that is the stereotypical response I see from a souls-veteran when someone ever so slightly questions the game-design choices that were made.

I will definately give the game another shot later tonight, but I am afraid the same issues will irk me. Or it might not, only time will tell :)

EDIT:
Woah, I just re-read what I wrote and I really sound like a douchefag. I am sorry, I guess the 3-hour-sleep is getting to me.
No offense to anyone was meant.

Maybe you should just give up on gaming, considering you are obviously too bad at it

drago....you need to slow down and take shit down 1 enemy at a time...this isn't souls so you can't take on several enemies at once, at least not yet. Dodge is your parry and is your best friend. Conserve what you have unless needed. Loot everything you find and learn the map..like central yharnam, I farmed and walked all over killing everything till I ran into the cleric beast, then I knew I had a goal, level up and stock up accordingly. If needed search up some vids if you get too frustrated.

Hassemannen...do the same..I was the same way at first and after dying several times because I didn't know what to do or where to go I slowed my roll and took it in as it came to me. ROM also gave some good tips but he likes giving riddles so not to ruin the game. But do like I told drago and you should do fine and will start enjoying the game.

And not to spoil but these should be your first 3 main boss battles:

#1 Cleric Beast - Central Yharnham, on bridge with 2 werewolves
#2 Father Gascoigne - Central Yharnham, path by the Cleric Beast.
#3 Blood Starved Beast - Old Yharnham, past the gattling gun grey wolf hunter, beware of poison.

Hope this helps you guys, and as soon as you get 10 insight, get the small resonate bell, you can also get other helpful things as well, but once you go below 10 you can't access it until you get 10 again.

not sure what the cleric beast is?
ive beat gasciogne and i unlocked shortcuts up to blood starved beast im just farnming to level so ican actually kill it

and ive been taking my time still get gang raped half the time
this games not nearly as smooth as demons souls

also can you transmute gems to bigger ones? ive got so many but can only use 2 lol

Why on earth do you need a map? The Areas are not unclear/confusing at all, do you have a bad memory in general or do you face huge issues in terms of visual thinking?
