Just got the game now. Started as archer, but I'm considering switching to mage. Game feels great so far, but I haven't really done much yet.

On a side note - is it worth it to check every corner for herbs/iron/gold/collectibles in the beginning? Can I miss out on items?

I'd recommend getting every material you come across. It's tedious as hell, but worth it.

I'm level 10 now and just unlocked a new fort (not going to reveal spoilers) and I crafted my entire party the inquisition flame armor / weapons from the materials I had gathered.

Mage is fun
A bit weak in the beginning but becomes extremely essential later
Just a heads up, start investing in support abilities early

Switched back to my archer for now. I liked him better, at least for starters. My guess is I will play through this game a couple of times anyway :P

Attempting to. I wouldn't recommend it

Side note - Does anyone know where you find Blackwall at? I'm using Cassandra as my tank currently and I'm looking to upgrade.

I am too. I'm only 7 at the moment though . I've just been doing all the sidequests and farming.
