For those who don't know - our highways are jacked. Cities grew way faster then the roads allowed for. A lot of people commute into Toronto for work. So, daily there is bumper to bumper gridlock on the highways for 8 or so hours (8-12, 4-8)
The gov't told us they have the solution, another highway but we don't have the money. The plan was to assign a fee to the highway and in 5 years the highway would be paid for, open to the public, and the problem solved.
They built the highway, a different premiere was elected, the new premiere sold the highway to private company, and it's forever a paid highway now. The paid highway is super expensive, like 12 dollars to get on it then you pay per km. So, to go to Toronto is like $35
one way!
Now the highways are just as jacked as ever and we have a paid highway that is always empty because no one wants to pay that much to use it.
