nash is pretty strong, but i dont think he is top tier.
his v-reversal and V-trigger help him get out of the corner pretty easily. much better options than most of the cast.
and he has a strong neutral like you said...something else the rest of the cast lacks in.
the character has great mobility, and his offense is standard enough to keep up with any other char.
i am actually not 100% sure on all of his s2 changes. i think backdash nerf? like that matters, it was his f.dash that is busted. i forget the rest, but i dont recall it seeming that bad.
overall...S2 has to have some significant gameplay changes to get this game back on track..
1. most important thing is going to be input lag. that has to be faster, heard rumours its down to 4F(@xianmsg), but nothing official yet.
this will instantly boost the reactionary game, meaning more whiff punishing and footsies and reliable anti airs from non DP characters. currently the only thing reasonable to whiff punish are the heavy kicks.. medium buttons need to be whiff punishable, too.
if returning players from previous titles feel like they can play a reliable, fundamental game, they will be more inclined to actually practice this game.
2. characters gotta have some more creativity...some of the new chars are by all means are, like urien and the sort, but some of the original cast is extremely linear to play. what ever needs buffing to make this happen. maybe more interesting ways to use V-Gauge or simply more combo routes.
i doubt this part will change alot in S2..but maybe if it can start moving towards that, it could give us some more hope/promise.
but if these things aren't addressed in S2, i fear alot of ppl will give up on it. i enjoy the game and like competing in it/leveling up, but im not going to pretend these problems don't exist.
medium scythe is punishable at all distances, forward dash was touched on also. he's losing alot of solid tools in neutral, like oki after forward throw in mid screen, so dash throw isnt' as scary to eat anymore
v reversal is going to be really bad with the recovery frames added in, it's already semi option selectable but it's going to be outright punishable in season two
v trigger was made worse also, and i already can't use it on wakeup, it's not invincible on the first frame, if meatied i lose my whole bar, i don't mind blocking, but against command grab characters nash is free as fuck on wakeup and he doesn't command neutral to the point they can never get in, necalli for instance has options and i can't reversal him off me, ex sonic scythe has no invinciblity he has good neutral in a game where the top tier all have ways of outright bypassing neutral, nash is definitely far worse off than people think, and the second people stop jumping and playing retarded and actually play street fighter with him, his weaknesses only get more apparent.

Nash isn't a good character
You joking
Cmon stop downplaying your main
Places top 8 in over 60% of the tournaments throughout the year and even wins evo
he hasn't won in a long time, he only won because it's the first year of the game and all anybody wanted to do was hold up forward and chase him, nash is like 8-35 in the last 9 or so tournaments in wins/losses

Oh yea
Nash also made it to top 8 at capcom cup
What's your definition of a "good" character?
yukadon is unarguably the best nash player, and every matchup he won was a bad matchup for nash, trust me, yukadon is just that good, play nash for a week and tell me how "good" he is.
oh and lets not forget i don't have a 3 frame normal, so i can't just jab my problems away like chun/cammy/ some other characters, my 4 frames are lights unlike ken, who can normal priority his problems away, because he has one of the only 4 frame medium's in the game (if not THE only... lol srsly that move is so retarded?)
