Some are for a transitional period between jobs and require you to do things like turn in applications. Some are for people who work, but are not making enough to support a quality of life for their family. Some are for people who have legally been classified as disabled. I feel most people have an opinion on this matter, but never actually took the time to sit down and learn about it from people who are being helped by the program. It's like the people who see someone using an EBT card to by Cigarette and assuming they are using Food Stamps to buy it. It's just misinformation and it's plaguing many people.

Two summers ago a driver ran a red light and t-boned my wife. She was injured and couldn't return to work because it hurt to stand for longer then 20 minutes.
The government supplemented her income because otherwise we would have had to sell everything we own to survive.

You say that now because you yourself were never in a situation of need like the millions on Government Assistance. Trust me if something happened to you or a loved one you would change your mind in a heartbeat and before you some like, "Oh I would kill myself if that happened!" just make sure you mind that edge.
