Socom 2 easily for consol... I miss gamebattles and Socom arena for the PSP playing with and against top clans was the best thrill also best community by far, people actually communicated and you could always pick who you picked with by going into dedicated servers.



in terms of console yes. PC counterstrike always won but the reason was because Socom was the start of all console online gaming. Other games weren't capable

The gaming industry is also immensely bigger in today's generation than the 90s / early 2000's so this argument means absolutely nothing.



Yuckkk Socom 3 was trash and when the series started to tank. Their core mechanics of competitive tactical shooter got completely trashed in 3 with the huge unnessisary maps and vehicles. Socom 1/2 and the FTBs on PSP were some of the best games for a competitive scene which it was one of the biggest at its time. Socom 3 completely went away from that...

Edit: to further my point, to be the best, you have to stand the test of time, long jevity, only shooters people are playing are battlefield and cod games

Personally nothing beat Halo Combat Evolved. Hooking up multiple Xbox and playing with 8 people all in the same room. The pistol was so OP

.....well to start off according to FORBES (hope that's a credible source) video game sales in the U.S in 2003 (year socom 2 was released) sales of all console and computer gaming was at $7 Billion in revenue (I wish I could see a nice piece of that). While in 2015 Video Game revenue was at $23.6 Billion dollars....so ummm I think you are right there isn't more money in today's gaming than back in the early 2000's.

Next let's bring up the next illogical statement. COD is alive and kicking because it has catered to the change in gaming that gamers want in today's era. While Socom being the biggest shooter in it's generation lost a lot of it's fanship when they tried to change their game to cater to today. Socom 4 tried to basically be what COD is now and it tanked because the fans of SOCOM enjoyed it for being a completely different type of game. Zipper was awful at trying to change in time which sadly I don't think they ever should have tried to that is what destroyed the game. This argument wasn't about who was the best company though it's about which game, and we are basically comparing Apples and Oranges because today's industry is completely different than when Socom was big. Also COD was a tactical shooter with COD 1-3 and they got blown away by socom. So they both were better games at different periods of time.
