By pvp community, do you mean random people you've never played with before? That's not a community, that's just a player base.

You can't generalize and say that everyone who pvps, is the pvp community.

An enclosed player base can surely install its own rules with organization, but you can't expect those same rules apply to to everyone.

Not but then you also cannot say you part of that community either.

So if the argument is PvP takes skill and is shown within the community pvp'ing outside of the community doesn't invalidate the argument.

I don't think we are arguing the same points.

Pvp takes some sort of level of skill whether estus are used or not. Bringing estus into the equation doesn't provide a negative imbalance nor isn't poor etiquette. It's simply part of the game.

What community do you speak of? You're only part of a community if you're in an organized, proactive clan, otherwise, you are just simply pvping.

Comparatively, in first person shooters, people often complain about others using certain weapons because they may be overpowers and cheap. Yet, they are provided by the developer and may be used by any player and those players should not be taunted for using something provided in the game and that everyone can use.

Let's clarify some things for those bickering.

Not to sound redundant, but i will reiterate again, when pvping, depending on the type of pvping, there are certain etiquettes most of the player base, those who arent slap dicks, abide by.

If you see a red summon sign, and that person joins your world, you can best bet that that person expects to play by what most agree to be a gm duel. Meaning, no estus chugging. Plain and fucking simple. Are estus flasks a part of this game? Yes they are. Does that mean since its provided in the game, go chug happy? No. Just like most gm duels in diablo 2 for instance, potting is considered bm, just like in ds3. Aside from that one simple, easily comprehend-able rule, there arent any others really.

If you are invaded by a spirit, or you invade as one, there are no etiquettes people abide by. Chug away, throw shit at the other player, gank em with friendly summons, throw a seed of a giant down. Its supposed to be sheer carnage and chaos.

Ive been playing since demon souls, and thats how the community has always viewed pvp. Idc what your interpretation is, thats all fine and dandy, but if you go against what people consider the "norm", prepare to look like a fucking chode.

I can support instated rules in an organized situation, but not for random encounters.

By the way, can you list any concrete reasons why using estus is frowned upon? Real, relevant reasons.

In a planned pvp encounter, you should be punished for any mistakes you made during the fight. If youre getting bested by your opponent, own up to it. If you need to continuously prolong your chances of getting that unlikely win, just concede your defeat and try again in another duel. There are plenty of opportunities.

I can talk about the unfairness of potting, in which when you get summoned willingly, you get less flasks than the host, so thats quite unfair, if i have twice the amount as you, i can just be reckless, not have to play strategically. And just out last you.

Summoning a hostile summon sign is not random. You chose to summon him, you planned on doing so, thats an organized duel, you should abide by the golden rule of not using your estus.

But as i said, if you are invaded, or are invading a strangers world, and by stranger, i mean using your red eye orb, then there are no rules. Go estus crazy.

So to recap, incase you dont see what most people who play this game understand, when you summon a hostile phantom on your own accord, using your estus is frowned upon. If, while your playing innocently, and you get invaded by a red, then its no holds bar shit show, estus away.

Its pretty sound and easy to follow. Any more prying into the common sense etiquettes of pvp in dark souls, trying to knit pick it, then youre just being an annoying child who just cant stop bickering and moaning that his view point has merit, when it doesnt. I sincerely hope you understand this concept better.

Owning up to a fight can still be the same if both party members are using estus. Using estus is just an extension of the fight and chugging has it's disadvantages as well......the time is takes to chug, lost endurance from running/rolling away to chug......being vulnerable.

And if a player is using estus, it doesn't mean he or she will lose the fight......

These etiquettes are just a result of a bunch of whiny players, something pretty common in modern gaming, nothing more. Continuing to support your argument only furthers my point, whiny, selfish babies.

In the end, I'm not saying that NOT using estus is wrong in any way. I'm reinstating that you can't force players to abide by rules made up by "the community" when they are not implemented by the developers. If the developers banned estus from dueling, we would have nothing to further talk about on the subject......but that hasn't happened.

The fight clubs I host. If u chug during a battle u will get ganked by all other players. Plain and simple. U interfere. Ganked. Attack the host. Ganked. I've had the same fight clubs open for hours. But all it takes is one idiot (mostly invaders) to come and fuk it all up.

Most people that pvp (not invade) understand pvp etiquette.

Are you a child? Did you not comprehend my simple post?

You can't tell people how to play the game, there are no rules.

If someone wants to play a certain way, adjust and play on.

Gaming etiquette is only valid when playing with friends, otherwise, you're being selfish because not everyone wants to play by your made-up rules..

For example, there is no logical reason why using estus is frowned upon in PVP other than it may make the match longer. It's an item in the game, it's not illegal, and can come with some consequences such as being vulnerable for the moment you chug-chug. It's not "unfair" in any way as both players can use them.

The only "tard" business going on here is your childish response.

must be dumb then?

I already mentioned that I don't play online because I don't have ps+.

There are numerous games over the long period of time I have played games where people complain about how others legitemently play.
