Jesus, go look online. NOT buying for the future is a poor way to spend your money.

4K is the standard.

1080p shouldn't even be considered anymore when buying a T.V. Like I said, my several year old 46" 1080p samsung was more expensive than the current 55" 4k samsung at similar model specs.

And note, my opinion on the subject has nothing to do with gaming.

I'd argue the exact opposite. Buying into 4K to future proof in the current landscape is a poor way to spend your money.

when the money is extremely minimal, it's not. Not to mention, you're most likely getting enhancements in specs as well......specs, better and faster interfaces/smart hub.

Again, at this time, NOBODY IS BUYING INTO 4K, it's STANDARD!

It's just odd timing to release a "new console"

Most people don't have 4K tvs because the amount of 4K content out there is limited, at best. This re-branding as "true 4K gaming" is Sony just keeping up with the trends. I don't own a 4K tv but I imagine I'll get one eventually. I don't own a ps pro but I imagine I'll get one eventually. The ppl this is marketed at are individuals with excess $ to spend or is for peoole who haven't jumped on PS4 yet.

If u don't have a 4K tv and you already have a PlayStation 4, you can probably skip ps4.5 this for the time being. Microsofts Scorpio is going to elevate the game to yet another level soon in regards to console power, I can see Sony doing a ps5 maybe 2019

4k isnt standard lol and there prob so cheap becasue there not that useful yet unless u got a nice pc or watch movies
by time theres enough content to make 4k standard they are going to be coming out with 8k or something theres no buying for the future in technology lets be real
technology keeps becoming better exponentially but the content providers simply dont /cant keep up becasue its not logical for selling to a market thats not there

You don't buy 4k tvs to play PC computer games. You don't buy a TV for a PC if you actually care about performance. You buy a monitor.

Like I said, it appears samsung already stopped making 1080p.

And yes, 4k is standard. Go look. Go look at what stores are offering at what prices. It's standard. It's really not hard to look this stuff up guys, really.

If this thread took place 2 years ago, around the big price drop of 4k, then I would have agreed with you guys.

I'm not saying everyone should go out and buy a 4k tv, I don't even have one, but if I was purchasing a new TV, I wouldn't buy a 1080p tv.

4k is currently the market standard, period. It doesn't mean it's the best, it doesn't mean it's for everyone, but it's the standard.

4k is standard at tvs, but PS4 (pro or not) does not have the processing power to run anything natively on 4k. Pcmasterrrace.
