For the choice you listed, unless you enjoy hours of being killed with no instruction on how to play or where to go, get witcher.
DS games are way over-hyped for what they are. they look cool, have a DECENT story, but the game play gets boring fast.

if you still decide on DS, just ask yourself first; do you really want to end up like these empty headed salty ds fanboys?

however i don't think either is the best option. there are tons and tons of better rpgs to play
