when u press r to aim, which completely immobilizes you and brings up a little red reticle that floats around the screen, and the n64 analog stick feels like its harder to aim with than modern controllers which are already criticized in the shooter genre for being sub par to mouse, theres like no depth to this game just run at eachother and hip fire

It's one of the worst. Perfect Dark is muchhhhh better if you want to go N64, but it was an overall lackluster system for shooters. Goldeneye was fun and it holds a place in my heart, but it's a terrible game when compared to any modern shooter or when compared to any decent old PC shooter.
