i realize kickstarter has its perks, why else would people give their hard earned money to fund a pseudo-promise?
the reality is people can just as easily lose the money that they pledged if the game never comes to fruition. it's happened a bunch of times.
it's a gamble and for sony to openly advocate on behalf of that gamble is weird and distasteful. imo.
but whatever, i don't even think this game will be any good (from my perspective). the majority of simulator style games are str8 garbage (imo ofc). that's if it even gets made. don't be surprised if it doesn't come out for another 8 years. you could be dead by the time it comes out, and then what? how significant was your pledge then? you didn't even get to enjoy the game, you just forked out money for an vacant promise that can be either broker of fulfilled at any point in the distant future.
kickstarter is for small companies who legitimately need the funds to get their wheels rolling, not this. sony was going to back them regardless.
it's an inherently flawed concept and i don;t know why ppl support these kinds of things.
no sony was not going to back them regardless, sony was going to back them so long as there was enough interest and hitting that funding goal proves there is enough interest
and if sony is involved, they'd be making sure things get done as well since they will have a stake in this too, so it's as much a gamble for them as any backer at this point
not to mention these people have their reputations within the industry on the line as well, so if they are unable to develop the game it would likely become hard for them to do much in the industry
and also I have not seen anywere that states this game is a simulator
