Most support companies are only allow'd to copy and paste various answeres. I used to work at a Sony support call center and we had a couple different sheets with answers we can say. Very certain circumstances we could say something that wasn't on the papers.
I can normally goad them into giving me a little extra info (I did it last time with xbox support). Just sucks that they won't say anything and they just give shit answers, I'd rather they just don't take support calls/chats at all.
