What are warlock bonds good for ? Seems kinds of a pointless item to me

All the class items are cosmetic/vanity except for the 6 that increase rep for New Monarchy, Future War Cult, and Dead Orbit (2 different class items for the 3 classes per rep) The level 2 Crota warlock bond is easily the coolest looking of them all, strive for it!
