idk much about modems but i generally feel asus is a good brand all around so if rom reccomends it its prob pretty good
good products with fair prices and they last a long time from what ive owned of asus stuff

As far as Wireless N routers the Asus Dark Knight is pretty much the best on the market.
Wireless AC is overkill unless you got a really good package.

Asus RT-N66U is the official name.

I've worked in some mid size companies and even they had them.

Relatively good price too.

Direct tv is now owned by att, i would check your local area to see what speeds att offer near you or if its even available, and if it is, then switch to them to get the package discount. Keeping just twc for internet and phone, and getting dtv seperately may be cheaper for a year or so. as for a modem and router, i don't know that twc uses, if its a basic docsis modem like comcast then you can go to any wal mart or office store and buy the same thing you're renting every month for 100 bucks or so. then you don't have to pay the rental. As far as i know with att you are unable to buy a modem seperately. i don't know if any of this information helps you, but personally i wouldn't get dtv unless you are bundling, because it will be too expensive year 2 and on, or year 3 and on if you get locked into pricing for 2 years.
