This. Games are overhyped and praised, everyone gets excited, pre orders or grabs a day 1 release only to find out the game is a pile of shit. I'm just tired of it man. I also don't like to see people waste money and get upset coz they wasted $65 on a brand new game.
Developers know they can get away with this shit so they do. They know people will pre order and get a day 1 release. Look at COD Ghosts. I'd say 80% of people who got the game think it's garbage. I'm one of them.
So yeah maybe the Witcher 3 will be a great game. I really hope it is.
holla!
Honestly though shit like assassins creed unity with the review scandel (I think that was unity that did that, who can tell anymore), lack of quality control and just plain out releasing an unfinished game because they know they can. These games function like alpha builds and the devs know they can just patch it later. free gaming testing from consumers + profit.
pre-orders only encourage this. its because they are seeing dollar signs and can't wait to cash the check. that is at the most basic level what is happening.
furthermore skiming content off the game and making it into dlcs that we feel like we need to buy to have the full experience is unacceptable. micro-transactions like weapons and skins I dont care about but content I do. $60 dollars is a lot of money and these games need to be substantial. They are trying to make it into a short subscription based concept where they either siphon our money and get it up front without us seeing the content (and offer bonuses to make sure we pay up front with the season pass) You end up paying $150+ to get the full experience and that is assuming you only bought the standard edition.
I really do hope this game blows us out of the water.
development over marketing. Don't they know we do the marketing for them if its good. Just means smaller profit up front but more in the end
