for the crota fight you do need really good timing and he should be at like 50% by the first ogre phase (2 x sword hits per swordbearer).
to get the sword bearers out make sure you use rockets and grenades especially do a lot of damage to him, you kind of have to charge forward a little bit in order to get good shots on him.
the whole fight does require good timing such as when he runs to the right hand side you need to hold off on killing the swordbearer just a little bit until he starts to move. additionally you need to kind of have an internal clock for how long the sword is out once you kill the swordbearer.
the whole thing is timing i think the fight is rather easy otherwise.
we went with a whole group of 31's and it took us like 3 or 4 tries or something to get timing down, then we killed him, switched to our alt group which had a lot of level 30s in it and killed him first try. you have to get the timing down for it to work.
The group I did it with yesterday got Crota down to 30% before the first wave of ogres. This method requires a hunter with blink strike.
So the only difference is instead of going back down to the hiding spot after the first knee, the hunter drops the relic and melees Crota to gain invisibility. Once he's invisible, he'll then pick up the relic again and just stand next to Crota while the other 4 (at either left or mid) DPS him down for the second time. Everything else is the same.
