great game, although i think i enjoyed demon's souls more even though this game is a bit more challenging. not gonna do ng+ though :|

the butterfly is easy, there's a fairly simple tactic to beat it.

when you enter, run straight to the other fog door, and just keep your shield up and "hide" there, the butterfly will shoot spears and magic orbs?? at you, the spears you can sometimes just hug the wall and it'll miss, other times they might hit you.
the homing orbs on the other hand you'll pretty much have to roll dodge everytime. After about 8-10 of these the butterfly will get tired and land on the walkway, this is where you run up to it and smack it down. rinse and repeat and you'll kill it.
i believe half way the butterfly gets another attack, some blue orb that has aoe explosion, but you can still dodge it, just roll forward and don't back up too early to avoid the aoe explosion.
but other than that, killing it gets you 12k souls i believe and the butterfly soul.

the soul itself is like crap if you take it for souls, i believe it was like 2k? but with the soul you can make a spear and a shield, supposedly the spear sucks but the shield seems cool.
haven't made them myself, but then again i'm tired of farming souls to upgrade weps since i just make quellag's furysword and bought like 100 dragon bow arrows lol

really.... ive gone through the area with 2 different classes and both times it was the easiest boss id fought.

What exactly does Soul level mean? same as character lvl? i got a lvl 40 knight

i already solod her haha i just died cuz i wasnt expecting that beam to hurt that much and she nailed mewiththe spikes right after while i was in the middle of drinking a flask
i also bought the crest to oepn the door ^^ finally advancing a bit lol i couldnt find the path besdie the door i had to palce a sign help gain humanity summon somebody n i followed him lol
e: i only got like 3k souls for killing her lol i recoverd my 13k or so i lost the first death i used 3x 1k souls i had then i farmed a bit more til 20k for the crest
and pvpmore soul level is pretty much just your level
e: whats this basement key for? is this the key to unlock the door by the dragon?

Giant rat is rly easy. There is a way behind the butcher (where u first find him with his sack over his head) behind the table with flesh on it. Look for it and drop down. From there u can drop down with a (lunge?) attack and 1HKO him (as did i).
