I think he maybe meant that today's youth now plays with PS4s, xbox's, smartphones and tablets VS our old school way of entertaining ourselves with those watery oily handheld contraptions

the small ones not the big ass 1ft guys there useless

What type of game is this?
First time i hear it

it's a somewhat unique type of ARPG, not too many games fill that role (Monster Hunter being the longest running one, with games like Soul Sacrifice, Freedom Wars, Ragnarok Odyssey also doing a similar style)
essentially you take on quests to kill something and you go kill it, but commonly in these games most of what you're sent to fight could essentially be comparable to a boss/mini boss
the games also tend to have multiplayer for up to 4 people
the games can tend to be somewhat hard unless you're very good at dodging/making use of invincibility frames

Does it last long?
Loot etc motivating like diablo?
U can skill etc?

for an example of long I have put around 300-400+ hours into Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate alone
skills depends on the games as they are different but for Monster hunter you get certain helpful buffs/bonuses from armour, gems, and a charm (some examples are the ability to see where the monster currently is or to resist certain status effects or to buff defence or attack)
Soul Sacrifice is different in that the farming is for essences to be able to use these things on your arm that provide buffs to the damage/effects of spells, farming for spells themselves isn't so needed though
I forget what Toukiden did, but I think there was stuff on the armour?
Freedom Wars eventually gives you access to augments that provide bonuses, this is 1 where you do need to farm to get the supplies from the Abductors in order to make them or weapons, weapons can also be obtained by picking up what Human enemies had when they were beaten
