What up everyone!! Just bought the game for ps3 any tips?

Edit: Actually been trying to do missions for a bit but I can't get enough people to join and it doesn't let me join any either

Unfortunately the last 2 updates have made the game extremely unplayable for a lot of people, if you're not experiencing any freezing or timed out sessions then I guess you're one of the lucky ones.
I'm also having trouble starting and joining certain missions... as for having enough people join, people tend to not want to play low ranked missions and avoid them (like me), but anyways most of them are pretty easy and you should be able to do them solo even on hard.
As for tips, depends on what exactly you wanna know, since you're just starting out things will be really slow (ranking up and gaining $, unless you get invited to missions like coveted or rooftop rumble )...
I have a character that I've spent ranking up (currently at 112) for around 5 days spent in-game, which comes to less than a month of actual playing. What I'd suggest is that you just play every mission on hard difficulty (you get 1.5x RP and $). Always do missions you get invited to on your phone either from your contacts or from other people, it's not worth replaying them from the start menu unless you're grinding a high paying mission. Once you get to a certain rank you can start selling cars to the LS customs (best to sell Gallivanter Baller SUVs, Lampadati Felon/Felon GT sedans, and/or Ubermacht Sentinal), those will sell for 9k to 9.5k each and you can sell cars every 45min (or 1 day in-game time). Simeon will also occasionally send you a list of cars that he's looking for (or he will mark a car in green on the map) and you need to find one of them, respray it and deliver it to his garage at the docks. These cars might get you more than $10k, but it depends on the color you respray them and the condition they're in when you deliver them. You can also rob these small stores that are marked on your map, you'll only get around $1-2k each time but if you hit multiple stores, it can quickly add up. What I like to do is use a helicopter so you can quickly evade the cops and fly to another store right after.

What were the recent updates for/about? Is single player affected?

You basically summed up my experience and told me exactly what I needed to know lol thank you sir

1.12 (Business Update) and 1.13 (High life Update) are the 2 recent ones, 1.12 came out a month ago or something and 1.13 came out a few weeks ago. They both added cars, guns and clothes to the game and the 1.13 has added multiple property ownership (only 2) and a "mental state" feature as well so if you've been playing online you might have noticed more red player blips than usual. This means that they're more likely to kill you for no reason or whatever, your bar increases every time you kill people, NPCs, blow up cars, etc.

There have also been some minor hotfixes but those were mostly for correcting glitches and de-ranking people who used DNS hacks/mods or RP hacks. Some people argue that with every fix, Rockstar just manages to create more problems though.

I don't think single player was affected much, unless you've already been experiencing freezing on there...

I haven't played it since I updated it to the Business one. Where they gave you the super car in single player and the new weapon I think it is.
