i can see whhy you'd think that, but i had made a conscious effort to be gentle with the device when i was handling it. i know how fragile hdmi ports are.
so there goes that theory. not saying im not to blame potentiallly, i'm just saying that some fuckery went down, and it's left me rather puzzled.
either way, this sucks, and every day that goes by is another day of my overpriced yearly sub wasted. need to get it fixedddddddddddddd naowwwwwwwww :[

Just watched a video. If you know how to solder it would be easy to replace because it has 4 big pads.

i need a heatgun. ttheyre like 40 bucks
and id have to order the part with the board stiill attached. might be hard to find
other than that it's easy as fuck
but im lazy, and would rather just find someone skilled who can do it. but idonno if possibrew around where i am without sending to sony, which would be like 150 bucks prolly.

I wouldn't use a heat gun to solder... I would use a soldering iron. And they are like $10.

i havent soldered much, so i'd prefer the heatgun method if i were to attempt it.
maybe the soldering method is even easier tho idonno. link to vid pls?

heat gun is to apply thermal paste
soldering is apply solder aka liquid metal

you cant use a heat gun for that...

and soldering is generally easy i did it in highschool for computer engineering i had to solder a bunch of shit together
although some had issues and got me to do it so i mighta just been good at it lol

Yeah soldering is pretty easy but that's what I was saying the pads are huge (the area you need to solder) so it shouldn't be too bad.
