I got lucky as fuck.
I called every store in town (roughly 30 stores) every day for about a week. Finally, Gamestop said they were getting 3 in stock. I planned to get there at 7 (store opened at 10), woke up late and ended up getting there at 8. The story actually opened at 9, but there was only two people in line when I got there. It was a miracle. Someone else also walked up to the line within 15 seconds of me getting there.
Bestbuy got a huge shipment in last week and I tried to go get another one. So, you can't buy accessories for the Classic anywhere. Even if you find the console, you still won't be able to play two player (controllers are sold-out everywhere, or you can order them online for the price of the console and get them shipped to you sometime in March), or buy an extender (which is an absolute must). I went to get a second console so I'd have a second controller so me, my brother-in-law and my son could play some games together on Christmas Eve/ Christmas (bro is staying the night at my place Christmas Eve). I was going to take the controller, and then wrap up the console and give it to my brother as he's the only other person I know who loves old games as much as I do. I got to Bestbuy at 5:00am (store opened at 8), there was already 100+ people in line and about 20-30 tents from people who slept there. I waited until 715 when a staff member came out and told us there was only 50 consoles, did a quick headcount and got up to 55 people and I hadn't even counted the tent people yet lol. So, that sucks balls, but it is what it is. Those damn things are next to impossible to find.
I did order an extension cable off Amazon, won't get it until after Christmas, but w/e, at least I'll finally be able to sit on the couch or in my bed and play, instead of 2 feet away from the TV. I wasn't able to find a controller fucking anywhere, but I found an adapter that makes it so you can use original NES controllers on the NES Classic. Bought that + the extension cord for $20 and I'll go pick up a classic NES controller for $5-$10 once those come in. With accessories and my 1 year protection plan, the console ended up costing me about $115. Def worth it, but even if you do get one, expect to pay about the same to get all the stuff you need to make it as enjoyable as possible. I've been playing a lot of Final Fantasy and Punch Out, I need to beat Final Fantasy, and then I'll do Zelda and probably try to get through Ninja Gaiden after that.
They're 4-11 for a reason lol. They're fucking awful this year, garbage QB, garbage staff, and complete and utter shit team attitude. I'm happy for the spectacular win, but I would have been upset if we didn't win by at least 20.
Nintendo is just shitty at preapring to release shit
seeing as it's been confirmed there has only been around 200k sold, like wtf was Nintendo thinking
