dig a little deeper and you'll realize this is nothing more than a clever ploy to get the public to semi-fund a project that sony would have funded in full anyways. they wanted to see if they could get away with this, and they did. expect to see similar situations pop up in the future.
sony knows what their customers desire and who desires what; they have an entire team dedicated to this. they're not oblivious.
this just opens the profit margins for sony substantially, as they'll only need to fork out a portion of what the game needs to be funded thanks to the crowd funding.
it's a shady move at best.

Lol you are wrong,what is 4 mil compared to like 50-70m which was budget for first two parts seperatly. So that kickstarter thing is as guy above said just a thing so they can be sure that there are alot players,fans etc.more than to get money.
