No worries.
If you still cant get it -
it should be in your router settings. Sometimes its blocked out and you have to call them to do it.
Google your gateway model number, bridged mode and I am sure a guide will pop up if its available.

If you have Comcast you absolutely do not have to use their equipment. And if they tell you otherwise it's because they want your money. Unless you have business class.

Go buy a modem and a router and never look back. Save your $10 a month.

My gf and I are in the market for a good Gateway 3 (for tv internet and phone) so we don't have to rent their crap anymore..can u recommend us anything?

You mean modem and router?
This is the best wireless n router on the market at the moment. It's what I have and it's a beast, might be overkill unless you have a big house.
