There are. Bags of loot with particles rising from them. It's just not pronounced.

There is a 20 minute dev demo, but it's hardly worth watching (I did watch it though) since people don't have respect and so much background conversation.

Item sockets change the look of the item itself as far as I know. Who knows though.
