just hide it or sumthin if they bug u about it that much and it bothers you
he shouldn't have to hide something he enjoys.
if he feels that he should hide it, he's embarrassed - which means he needs to figure out why he's embarrassed.
for me - i feel that i'm getting too old for video games, or at least for most video games. however, it's not because of my age... it's my mindset.
none of my friends play video games, but if you knew me you'd probably be able to figure out why my friends don't play video games.
i don't really hide that i play them, but i don't go around talking about them either.
i want to cut back on it severely, mostly because i feel like i'm just wasting time when i turn them on. a little bit is a nice relaxation because i can just shut down mentally and "veg out" for a bit... but those long multi-hour sessions are just a huge waste of my time.
i'm sure that inevitably i'll stop playing them altogether, but i just feel like i've spent too much of my free time playing them and i'd rather do some other things that are a bit more productive and rewarding.
as for doom - he just needs to figure out if he plays them for something to do, or if he plays them because he actually enjoys the time he spends with them. the opinions of others do matter, but only if they're genuinely focused on him (ie. are they concerned he's wasting his life or w/e? or do they simply think he's too old to play child's games? or do they just personally think video games are stupid, and they're criticizing him for liking something they don't?)
