im sorry but i dont see how being outsold 3:1 each week by the 3ds is doing well

ofc hirai would say its doing well, he's trying to calm down investors

you shouldve seen how everyone was calling the 3ds a disaster/fail/calling it dead when it was selling like 80k+ per week, tbh people are being soft on the vita cuz i havent seen nearly as many vita is doomed articles as i did for the 3ds when it was doing poorly

vita just cant make it
its just the market

when its something like handhelds
the handheld gaming market is like 90% little kids

majority of teens and adults would rather not carry around a large and heavy piece of hardware like the vita

vita games dont appeal to little kids as much as the nintendo games do

i kinda agree with you but not entirely, one of the main problem of the vita is the lack of portability, there's no way someone's gonna carry a vita in his pocket, on the other hand the 3ds fits well in a pocket

idk what % of kids/adults buy handhelds but many of my friends have bought a 3ds and are happy with it so i'd say the target audience is rather large (also many games like metal gear solid: snake eater, and resdient evil: revelations are targeted towards a more mature audience) and nintendo games (mario 3d land, mario kart 7, Oot) are for everyone IMO

but i like nintendo 3ds games..
but im too embarrassed to take on the go with me

so the 3ds would obviously dominate the handheld market due to catering to the right audience and then some

i loved the nintendo ds games
i just dont play games anymore so i didnt buy a 3ds

i alrdy knew the vita was doomed the moment they announced it
though i wouldve bought it just to play top spin on the go but now the 3ds has mario tennis so obviously the vita loses there too lol

the vita isnt "doomed" it just needs more/better games


one difficulty i see with it is that sony's crown jeweled developers like suckerpunch/naughty dog only work on console (which in my opinion my be a good thing)



give it some time, i already want it just because of hardware

the games can be 10/10
it still wont do good unless those games are marketed towards the right audience
which are little kids

majority of the older crowd just arent willing to carry around something like that unless you have no friends and actually go out in public just to sit in a corner and play games

the day that the public doesnt feel any awkwardness seeing a grown man 18+ play a handheld in public by himself is the day that our society hits an all time low

most ppl only buy handhelds to play at home, (like me)

the handheld has to have a cetain game or feature that isnt on console for ppl to buy. bita has alot of features but alot of which are alrwady on consoles, same thing with the games


but it also has things that onloy a handheld can do but it just hasnt been implemented yet

most people buy handhelds to play outside of home
most people buy consoles to play at home

im not saying no one buy handhelds to play at home(just so you dont get confused)

just look at it this way

what age group do the nintendo games cater to
and what age group do the psv games cater to

6-15 for nintendo
16-18 for psv(if that)

how many opportunities or times does a 6-15 year old have to play handhelds

how many opportunities or time does a 16-18 year old have to play handhelds


easily answers the market

and how 6-15 year olds even had enough money to buy a 3ds when it first came out, now then when the price dropped and more games came out its at the top of the charts



now idont think that psv will bypass 3ds if the price drops and more games are bc of how you said it 3ds caters to kids and more kids play handhelds but a huge spike will occur and it will do better
