Most opt for Lightning because most enemies have very low Lightning resistence.

After Bell G should I go to Darkroot Garden/Basin or no? Ive been told to run allllll the way back to blighttown isntead

Adventuring, I found a shortcut to run to the bottom of the tower at the basin and back through the castle. Unfortunately, theres something there that I cant outrun and he one shots me lol.

Do I run all the way back (way of the bull and drake) ?

you can do darkroot garden/basin, it's an optional area, but you will have to kill Sif eventually to complete the game since he has a ring you need.

as for where to go, if you don't have the master key, you'll need to get the key to the depths to get the key to blight town, so you should head towards the capra demon.

and the guy at the bottom of the tower is called Havel, he will 1 shot you through your shield, but you can kill him with a bunch of back stabs.

Hello fellow Dark Souls gamers, and a Happy New Year to you all :hello:
I got the game for x-mas, but I didn't start playing until yesterday. So far it's been great!
I am a level 20 wanderer, resting at the cathedral bonfire in Undead Parish atm. Today I plan on grinding the area around here to level up some more. Got the Drake Sword (16 str so 1 handed) and that def boost ring along with a Balder helm and the rest is pretty much starting gear. I've pretty much been spending stat points in dex and endurance, along with the 16 str for the sword. Is this a good way to continue, or do I need some points in other categories as well?

Haven't tried the online function yet. Do you guys recommend it, or would it be wise to play more single player first?

playing online is usually to either co-op (get help for bosses or help others with bosses) and PVP.

as for stats, since it's your first playthrough i won't suggest anything too specific as in go for a build, but just play however you like and see where you want to spend your stats.
but i would recommend having 2 attunement slots so you can at least carry 2 spells. (i run with 2 copies of heal, so it's like extra flasks)

but yea, spend your stats accordingly, but i do recommend more endurance so you can either dodge/attack or block more.
you can also get a higher equip burden that way.

Yeah, this is close to what I've been thinking as well. Would you recommend any vitality on my wanderer though? Or just focus on dex/end for now?
I'm also curious about the equipment. Is upgrading anything I should start looking into now? Is there any shopable items I should pick up at this point?

Sorry for the massive amount of questions :p

well there isn't any point in upgrading dex if you end up using a weapon that doesn't rely on dex lol.
dex isn't like the usual where it gets you higher damage for everything, some weapons scale on str.

but i would do more vita if you see yourself dying a lot, and endurance is always nice, but it caps out at 40, meaning your stamina bar won't increase anymore at that point, but your equip burden load will continue to go up.

as for upgrading equipment, it's really what you like, i can't force you to pick anything nor do i really want to suggest anything cause that might just limit what you'll want to use, but i can help give you advice on what you choose to use, or even if you pick a style i can give some recommendations that way, but the game is definitely more fun and aggravating not knowing too much haha
