At Sen's Fortress it just flat-out stops working. Luckily you can essentially just run and get the Lightning Spear without much trouble.

Thanks for the hint. Just got to Sen's Fortress/Darkroot Garden myself and am getting stomped by everything. Lightning Spear a good placeholder weapon at least? Trying to upgrade my claymore, but need something that doesn't completely blow in the meantime.

So I think I found a good way to not miss items but not use strategy guides and ruin the game so to speak

It does let you know where boss fights are though... I think I wont refer to the maps until after I do some exploring myself.

Put the game in yesterday for the first time. Beat the Bell Gargoyles last night and stopped for a while. For sure will pick it up again later today

Lightning Spear is essentially one of the best weapons in the game fully upgraded (for first playthrough and NG+ anyway) Obviously there's better base weapons (some of that has to do with personal preference) but an enchanted weapon just owns all, especially lightning and fire which are both OP as hell.

Going for a lightning claymore (out of personal preference). Will at least use that spear until I can farm all the stupid titanite chunks.

Yeah, my buddy made a Lightning Claymore. I personally just stuck with the Lightning Spear and +5'd it (easily enough done, Titanite Slab can be gotten from Stray Demon) and I also made a +10 Fire Washing Pole, insane range and good attack pattern. I'm not understanding why more people aren't using the Washing Pole, it has low reqs, decent speed, varied attack pattern (long stab for R2, swings for R1) and just insane range. Only thing other swords really have over it is a bit better overall damage.

Is there a reason why I cant find any sorc builds online Is it not a popular choice? I see this faith/dex everywhere lol

Most opt for Lightning because most enemies have very low Lightning resistence.
