Is wasting my starting gift on 10 fire bombs to get the Asylum Demon Hammer worth it?

Also, is starting as thief (or starting with the master key) the only option I would want to take? Ive read that the Pendant is a good choice too.

They still haven't figured out what the Pendant does, so don't bother with that, besides some bitch drops it later if I recall. Master key is your best bet to access all of the early perks like Valley of the Drakes, Havel's Ring, and plenty of others. And the hammer sucks dick....I'd never use that POS.

Gaping Dragon is the easiest boss in the game....after he slams himself down he just walks randomly in a direction and then stands there for a few seconds....in that time frame hit him and back up, wait until he stops again, and repeat....Shouldn't have a problem with Gaping Dragon if you were able to beat everything else to get to him ~~
