the only time i appreciate the ability to switch roles on the fly is when the fights are difficult enough to warrant it.

Now Golden Sun was my favorite combat system, due to the shifting roles based on what special abilities/summons you have used in fight.
Those and of course i also love the standard specific role, but i love pretty much every jrpg fight system, as unique combat systems interest me to an insane degree.

So they'll remake a shit ff game but not ff7? Makes sense...

You speak as if you remotely understand the task of remaking a game, which is not that simple. They have remade nothing, this is simply an HD texture touchup.

Remaking FF7 would cost them an insane amount of money and time. It took them 3 years or so just to upgrade the textures and menus/music in final fantasy x and x2.

plus it would be an insane gamble. There are a lot of people that enjoyed ff7 but would never want it to be in insane detail. We have seen what HD representations of the elements of FF7 would be..its disgusting.

TL'DR version: Remaking ff7 would cost too much money, take too much time, and not guarantee a reasonable time before profit was made. With these HD upgrades, its much more safe, especially with tons of other games on the way from them
