Did you kill the fat guy first or the skinny guy first...if you killed Orenstein first you're fucked, if not, the guy under the bridge at the firelink shrine sells it.

he probably already killed them that's why he can't get it.
but if he didn't do that, and did kill ornstein last, he can buy the armor from the vendor

Unless you are going for a platinum then go with Smough (skinny) first, it's easier.

LOL. I did the same thing my first playthrough, I accidentally hit him when trying to soul suck, he attacked me and I just ended up kicking him off of the bridge for shits and giggles since I didn't know about the dude up at the belltower that can reset relations for 20k souls -.-
