They are mostly cosmetic..the average gamer doesnt care about trophies..Trophies are for a world ranking system..each trophy has a point value and obviously each point value is different..like each bronze is only worth 15points..platinums are worth substantially more..the more trophies you have..the more points you have..the better ranking you will have..trophies are created by game developers to add long jevity/replayability to their games and sometimes they test your gaming ability

Platinums are a unit of measurement for your epeen.
