Just to let you guys know in playing mk against my friend next door and we are getting no lag 1v1. That means that if you have laggy matches, has little to do with your internets.

its not that hard
there's two ez steps to beat him

1)jump (triangle) punch followed by a upper cut, after the upper cut jump behind him again with jump (triangle) punch followed by an upper cut, repeat (i used this for 300 challenge)
2) jump behind him using 3button combo, then repeat ( i use this step for ladder)
