Being involved in social networks/social media is the norm today
While he involves himself in a community and actually participates in conversation on a FORUM, you spend your time on a social network bashing a company and product that doesn't negatively affect you in any way, talking down on people buying and giving opinions on what THEY like and want, and vigorously promoting a company and product that doesn't even pay you or give you any benefit in doing so
I wouldn't be surprised if majority of your conversations/comments IRL involved video games
