The amazing part of consoles is you don't have to change it, game are designed to work on them. If you have a pc and the new generation of games is coming out and you need some upgrades, get ready to drop $300-$1500 (depending) on ram/gfx/motherboard/whatever.

Not to mention no one is mentioning accessories. Want a good keyboard and mouse? Thats another ~$200.

Anyways, PC has its place, consoles have their place. If you dont like one or the other dont use it, not fucking hard. Personally I love the large assortment of unique games that we have gotten 100% thanks to consoles. If you think video games would be as big now without the console 'bringing the arcade home' you are either stupid or insane.

hate is such a strong word, but i love you.

Also, you don't NEED to upgrade a pc.... that's such a misconception. I used to have a crappy prebuilt from 2009 and it played everything i threw at it...... Now i have a custom built and well......we know how that is.
Many people are addicting to upgrading, it's not completely necessary by any means. Also, buying the updated things can be found cheap. Computer components generally hold their resale value pretty well which means cheaper new components.

If a game is coming out and you don't have the specs to play it at its minimum you either have to upgrade or have a potentially bad play experience / unplayable game.

And don't get me started on the different video cards... A game you should be able to play might not work because you have amd vs nvidia.

I've never run into any issue. My prebuilt had a crappy 4000 series.
